ICE OCTOBER SUGAR DELIVERIES ESTIMATED AT 1.52 MILLION TONS, TRADERS SAY

Raw sugar deliveries for the October contract on the ICE exchange were estimated at 30,032 lots (around 1.52 million tonnes) as the contract expired on Tuesday, potentially the fourth-largest October delivery on record. Louis Dreyfus was reported as the main deliverer with 10,321 lots, while Cofco International emerged as the largest buyer with 13,977 contracts. Official figures will be released by ICE on Wednesday. Large deliveries are often seen as bearish, suggesting limited opportunities for better prices outside the exchange, though some traders had expected an even larger volume, exceeding last year’s 33,506 lots. Market reaction remains uncertain, but the October contract still gained 0.5% on Tuesday, closing at 16.10 cents per pound, marking its fourth straight session of increases.
