HUMANITARIAN AID SHIPS TO BE GRANTED DOCKING PRIORITY, FEE EXEMPTION AT PORT OF SANTOS

In response to the state of public calamity in Rio Grande do Sul due to climatic events, the National Waterborne Transportation Agency (Antaq) has directed public port authorities to prioritize docking for vessels transporting donations to flood victims. This directive aligns with existing norms at the Santos Port Authority (APS) and aims to streamline logistics for delivering aid. Antaq also mandates a total fee exemption for humanitarian cargo destined for Rio Grande do Sul. The resolution, signed by Antaq’s director Eduardo Nery Machado Filho, underscores the vital role of waterway and port infrastructure in facilitating relief efforts. Anderson Pomini, president of the Santos Port Authority, pledges swift action to implement fee exemptions for all humanitarian cargo operations bound for Rio Grande do Sul.
