GREEN SHIPS GAIN PRIORITY FOR DOCKING AT THE PORTS OF PARANAGUÁ AND ANTONINA

The ports of Paraná now prioritize berthing for sustainable ships, or “green ships,” as part of a new regulation effective February 2023. This initiative aims to encourage the use of vessels with energy-efficient systems that reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Luiz Fernando Garcia, CEO of Portos do Paraná, stated that the policy provides preferred dock space to sustainable ships regardless of arrival time, aligning with the port’s sustainability goals. The measure supports the 2030 Agenda and the company’s commitment to decarbonizing the port sector. The initiative also includes a partnership with the Port of Rotterdam to develop renewable energy, such as green hydrogen and wind power, under the Green Ports Partnership. Portos do Paraná holds Ecoports certification for environmental management.
