Production has potential to reach 24.1 million tons.Report released this Thursday (20) by the Department of Rural Economy (Deral), of the State Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply, indicates improvement in the 2019/2020 harvest in Paraná, with the advance of the soybean and corn harvest and beans from the first harvest. The expectation of soy production, for example, went from 19.7 million tons to 20.4 million, an increase in productivity of two more bags per hectare. The prospect of corn production grew from 3.2 million tons to 3.3 million, which brings the total estimate of the spring-summer harvest in Paraná to 24.1 million tons in an area of 6 million hectares, production 22% higher than the volume harvested last year.In the evaluation of the 18/19 crop, the safrinha corn area was confirmed to be 6% larger. However, the production outlook is now lower than last year, due to the delay in sowing. So, for now, the expectation is for a reduction in productivity. “In any case, we increased by more than 50 thousand tons of what we had disclosed in the estimate of January of this year, in such a way that the summer-autumn harvest also grows in Paraná. Thus, counting on the winter harvest, the harvest expectation may be above 37 million tons ”, says the head of Deral, Salatiel Turra. According to the State Secretary of Agriculture, Norberto Ortigara, if the winter harvest exceeds two million tons, the total grain production in Paraná this year may reach 40 million tons, a value close to the state’s historical record. “We see an important advance and an improvement in production expectations, which is good for farmers. And the firm exchange rate favors the whole of Paraná’s economy, ”he said.
