GLOBAL SUGAR SURPLUS WILL BE SMALLER THAN EXPECTED

The global sugar market is expected to post a surplus of 3.04 million tons in the 2025/26 season, down about 700 tons from previous forecasts, according to StoneX. This comes despite a 5% rise in global production, driven by higher outputs in India, Thailand, and Brazil. Final global stocks are estimated to grow 4.2% to 75.4 million tons. Strong monsoon rains in India and favorable conditions in Thailand support positive projections. In the Americas, Brazil leads a 2.7% production increase despite regional challenges. While demand is rising in Asia and Africa, overall global consumption remains weak, with only 0.7% annual growth.
