FOREIGN INVESTMENT SOARS TO USD 1.1 TRILLION, REACHING A HISTORIC 46.6% OF GDP

According to the Central Bank’s Census of Foreign Capital, Brazil ended 2024 with a record high of USD 1.141 trillion in foreign direct investment (FDI), accounting for 46.6% of its GDP. This is the highest level since the time series began in 1995, when the figure stood at 6.1%. The total FDI is split between USD 884.8 billion in company capital stock and USD 256.4 billion in intercompany transactions. Although a record relative to GDP, the absolute value was less than the 2023 target of USD 1.3 trillion, owing to the local currency’s decline against the dollar.
