Brazil’s Center-South was still deep in the sugarcane off-season, with crushing activity sharply reduced in early January. Accumulated volumes for the 2025-26 harvest are now 2.22% lower than the previous cycle, while ATR has slipped 2.19%. Sugar production during the period was minimal, though the cumulative total still edges slightly above last year’s level. Ethanol output fell 4.82% over the cycle, driven mostly by a pullback in hydrous ethanol, while anhydrous continued to grow. Corn ethanol kept gaining traction, now accounting for nearly 90% of biweekly production.
