FERTILIZERS KEEP COMING AT A RAPID PACE TO THE PORTS OF PARANAGUA AND ANTONINA

Even though fertilizer imports should see a 30% reduction by the end of 2022, they keep coming at a high rate in the ports of Paraná state. Recently four vessels carrying fertilizers simultaneously, two in the port of Paranaguá and the other two in Ponta do Félix, in Antonina brought 107,236 tonnes of raw materials from Jordan, Nigeria, Egypt, and China. Brazil went through an atypical year with a high volume of fertilizer imports. By the end of the first half of the year, Brazil imported around 19.2 million tonnes of fertilizers, 20% more than in the same period of the previous year. With large quantities of the product on hand, the rate of fertilizer imports slowed down. The Sindiadubos fertilizer union anticipates a 30% reduction in arrivals from October to December. The prospects were revealed in October at a Symposium in Curitiba.
