ETHANOL STOCKS IN THE CENTER-SOUTH REACH 2.8 BILLION LITERS IN THE FIRST HALF OF JUNE

Ethanol stocks in Brazil’s Center-South rose in mid-June as the sugarcane harvest progressed, reaching 2.8 billion liters—a 21.4% biweekly increase but 36.5% below last year’s level. Hydrated ethanol made up 60.8% of the volume and anhydrous 39.2%. Despite the recovery, production and sales dropped: 1.77 billion liters were produced (down 21.7%) and 1.26 billion liters sold (down 13.9%) in early June. São Paulo, the largest producer, saw a 42.3% annual drop in total stock. Hydrated ethanol stock was 1.7 billion liters—33.5% lower year-on-year—with sales down 15.9%. Anhydrous ethanol stock reached 1.1 billion liters but remained 40.6% below 2024. The shift to E30 gasoline (30% anhydrous ethanol) from August is expected to boost demand for anhydrous by 760 million liters in 2025.
