ESTIMATED GDP FOR MINAS GERAIS AGRICULTURE IS A RECORD IN 2025

Minas Gerais’ Gross Value of Agricultural Production (VBP) is projected to reach a record R$168.3 billion in 2025, a 14.3% increase over 2024, driven mainly by the crop sector, expected at R$113.5 billion (+17.8%), which represents 67% of the state’s agricultural revenue. Coffee leads growth with a 48.5% rise, reaching R$59.1 billion, followed by soybeans at R$18.4 billion (+9.9%) due to strong domestic prices and international demand, especially from China. Other crops showing significant gains include corn (+20.2%), tomatoes (+18.2%), cotton (+15.8%), wheat (+14.3%), peanuts (+8.2%) and grapes (+1.3%), together with coffee accounting for 79% of total crop revenue. The increase reflects higher yields and favorable market conditions, highlighting Minas Gerais’ growing role in Brazil’s agricultural economy.
