EL NIÑO ENDS THIS MONTH; LA NIÑA LIKELY TO DEVELOP IN JULY

According to Inmet, the second week of June will bring rain to Brazil’s North, Northeast, and South regions, with more than 60 mm accumulations in the North and Northeast and 70 mm in the South. The most impacted areas include northwestern Amazonas, northern Pará, Roraima, and eastern Amapá. El Niño ends in June, and La Niña is expected to begin in July, cooling Pacific waters. El Niño has led to droughts and flooding in the South region, resulting in a huge tragedy in May in Rio Grande do Sul. La Niña has a 69% chance of occurring between July and September 2024.
