On Jan 27, a delegation of Egyptian fertilizer exporters, including representatives from the country’s largest phosphate producer, visited the Portos do Paraná port authority to strengthen ties and increase the flow of fertilizers through the ports of Paraná. “Egypt is an important exporter of fertilizers to Brazil and an importer of grains,” said Luiz Teixeira da Silva Junior, Operations Director at Portos do Paraná. According to him, it is key to strengthen these ties to create an even more solid relationship. “Especially when these users come to know the efficiency of our operations.” The ports of Paraná are the main gateways for fertilizers imported by Brazil: around 27.5% of all the fertilizers that arrive from abroad. Egypt ranks ninth in terms of import volume at the ports of Paranaguá and Antonina. In 2022, the country exported approximately 500 thousand tonnes of cargo, primarily phosphate fertilizers.
