DRY WEATHER DRIVES SUGAR, ETHANOL PRODUCTION

Dry weather in Brazil’s South-Central region boosted the 2024/25 sugarcane harvest, resulting in higher sugar and ethanol production compared to the previous season. Sugarcane crushing increased by 13% in late June, reaching 48.8 million tonnes. The Total Recoverable Sugars (TRS) content rose by 5.16%, enhancing raw material supply. Consequently, sugar production grew by 20.1% to 3.25 million tonnes, and ethanol production increased by 18.5% to 2.3 billion liters. From April to July 1, sugarcane processing rose by 13.3%. Sugar exports from April to June increased by 27.4%, generating $3.9 billion in revenue. Ethanol sales also surged, with hydrous ethanol sales rising by 47%.
