DREYFUS ANNOUNCES NEW SUGAR TERMINAL IN SP THAT INCREASES RAIL CAPACITY BY 1 MILLION TONS

Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) is building a sugar transshipment terminal in Pederneiras (SP), set to increase rail capacity by 1 million tons annually by mid-2025. The terminal will enhance competitiveness, allowing sugar to be transported to the Port of Santos via rail, reducing dependence on costlier road transport. Brazil, the world’s largest sugar exporter, reached record shipments of over 32.04 million tons in 2024. The terminal will work alongside LDC’s grain terminal, optimizing logistics and enabling complete train shipments (80 wagons) of sugar and grains. The facility will have a 90,000-ton storage capacity and a flow of 500 tons/hour. LDC emphasizes the benefits of rail logistics, offering greater efficiency, reliability, and competitiveness for sugarcane mills.
