COSTA RICA AUTHORIZES OPENING OF MARKET FOR BRAZILIAN DDG AND DDGS

This week, Brazil concluded ten agricultural trade agreements with six countries—Bahamas, Cameroon, South Korea, Costa Rica, Japan, and Peru—expanding market access for products like beef, pork, poultry, genetic materials, fish oil, and corn ethanol derivatives. Notably, Costa Rica approved Brazilian exports of distillers’ dried grains (DDG/DDGS), a protein-rich by-product of corn ethanol used in animal feed and aligned with Brazil’s bioenergy sustainability. These deals bring the total of new markets opened since 2023 to 381, reflecting coordinated efforts by Brazil’s Ministries of Agriculture and Foreign Affairs.
