CORN SALES FROM THE 2023/24 HARVEST REACH 37.39% IN MATO GROSSO

In May, corn sales from the 2023/24 harvest in Mato Grosso reached 37.39%, up 4.64 percentage points from April, driven by a 3.13% price increase to R$37.92 per bag, according to the Mato-Grossense Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea). Sales for the 2024/25 season were at 3.23%, a 1.63-point rise from April, despite a 2.38% price drop to R$36.52 per bag. For the 2022/23 harvest, sales hit 97.39%, a 0.42-point monthly increase. Mato Grosso exported 330,000 tons of corn in May, a 39.86% year-over-year increase. Cumulative exports for the 2022/23 season reached 29.16 million tons, an 11.78% rise. China imported 16.19 million tons, or 55% of Mato Grosso’s exports from July 2023 to May 2024. Imea projects total exports to reach 29.85 million tons by the end of the 2022/23 cycle.
