The 2024/2025 second corn crop in Mato Grosso do Sul delivered strong results for agribusiness, with favorable weather driving a 61.7% increase in productivity to 108.4 sacks per hectare and total production reaching 13.9 million tons, up 64.8% from the previous cycle. Despite only a 1.9% rise in cultivated area, efficiency gains were significant. The Northern Region led yields, with Alcinópolis (173.79 sc/ha) and Chapadão do Sul (167.08 sc/ha) among the highlights. Maracaju, Sidrolândia, Ponta Porã, and Dourados concentrated 36% of total production. According to Aprosoja/MS, the outcome reflects farmers’ improved planning, use of technology, and favorable climate conditions, even with some localized drought and frost. Planting ended in April and harvesting in September, about two weeks later than the previous cycle. It is only the second time in a decade that average yields surpassed 100 sacks per hectare.
