CORN HARVEST FOR 2ND CROP IN MATO GROSSO REACHES 96.38% OF TOTAL AREA

As of August 1, the second corn crop in Mato Grosso had reached 96.38% harvest completion, marking a 6.01% weekly advance, according to Imea. However, progress remains slower than the 2023-24 cycle, which had reached 99.91% at the same stage. Regional disparities persist, with the Southeast (85.95%) and West (95.82%) notably behind schedule, while the Mid-North (99.43%) is nearly finished. The statewide harvest rate also trails the historical average of 97.53%. Cotton harvest is also delayed, with only 18.27% of the harvested area – significantly lower than the previous cycle’s 34.70%. The northeast, mid-north, and southeast regions lead in cotton harvest, though all remain behind last year’s levels. The most significant delays (over 17%) were observed in the Mid-North and Southeast.
