Corn ethanol is gaining ground in Brazil’s energy matrix, with its share in national ethanol supply expected to rise significantly. Companies like FS predict corn will account for 40% of total ethanol in four years. While sugarcane ethanol is projected to decline in the 2025/26 harvest, corn ethanol should grow to 9.49 billion liters, or 27.9% of the total, up from 22.7% in 2024/25. In 2024, 31.47 billion liters of ethanol were supplied, with 22.5% from corn—an increase from 20.5% in 2023. Inpasa led national supply for the third year, selling 3 billion liters in 2024, a 17.5% increase. These figures, based on ANP data compiled by NovaCana, reflect the rising importance of corn in Brazil’s biofuel sector.
