CORN ETHANOL PRODUCTION SOARS 30% IN 2024-25 HARVEST BY EARLY DECEMBER

The Sugarcane and Bioenergy Industry Union (Unica) reported Brazil’s Center-South region crushed 8.83 million tons of sugarcane in the first half of December, a 54.30% decrease from the previous harvest of 19.32 million tons in 2023-2024. The units produced 764.53 million liters of ethanol in the first half of December, with 498.56 million liters of hydrous ethanol (- 28.18%) and 265.97 million liters of anhydrous ethanol (- 24.30%). With corn accounting for 50% of total ethanol production in the first half of December, 379.16 million liters were produced this year, a 34.89% increase from 281.09 million liters during the same period in the 2023-2024 cycle.
