Cabotage volumes in Brazil’s North region reached 10.8 million tonnes between January and November 2025, rising about 200,000 tonnes year on year, as containerized cargo grew 8.25%, according to Antaq. The expansion reflects continued gains under the BR do Mar program, which has increased service offerings, competition and regulatory certainty. Cargo flows are concentrated in Pará and Manaus, linking regional production to consumer markets in the Northeast and Southeast. Bauxite led shipments with 3.86 million tonnes, followed by containerized cargo at a record 3.23 million tonnes and oil and oil products with 2.81 million tonnes. Since 2022, containerized cabotage in the North has grown every year, underscoring cabotage’s strategic role in reducing logistics costs, improving supply regularity and integrating the region with Brazil’s main domestic markets.
