Brazil–China trade reached US$170.8 billion from January to November, down 2.2% year over year, with China’s exports to Brazil falling 1.6% and Brazilian sales to China dropping 2.6%. Brazil’s trade surplus with China, which was US$63.3 billion in 2023 and US$44 billion last year, is expected to shrink further in 2025, especially as the U.S.–China trade deal pressures Beijing to buy more American goods like soybeans, potentially reducing Brazilian exports by US$4 billion. Meanwhile, China’s global trade surplus hit US$1.076 trillion by November and continues expanding despite tariff disputes. Chinese exports have grown strongly in Latin America—producing a US$54 billion surplus in 2025—and surged in sectors like autos, solar panels, and electronics, gaining market share in Europe, Southeast Asia, Africa, and beyond.
