CHINA BUYS 70% OF SOYBEANS AND 63% OF IRON ORE EXPORTED BY BRAZIL

Brazil’s main trading partner, China, is the destination for over a quarter of total Brazilian exports, involving more than US$90 billion in 2022 in transactions of commodities such as soy, crude oil, and iron ore. Soy leads Brazil’s export basket, generating US$46.5 billion in 2022, of which shipments to China accounted for more than US$31.8 billion, or more than 68% of the total Following soy, oil was the product most sold by Brazil abroad (42.5 billion dollars) in 2022, with almost 40% or 16.5 billion dollars coming from China. Iron ore is Brazil’s third most important export product overall, as well as to China, with a total of 28.9 billion dollars. The country bought the equivalent of 18.2 billion dollars, or approximately 63% of all exports.
