CENTER-SOUTH SUGARCANE CRUSH IN HITS 50.22 MILLION TONS LATE JULY

The 2025-2026 sugarcane harvest in Brazil’s Center-South is experiencing a significant downturn. Crushing volume is down 8.57%, while sugar content (ATR) has hit a decade low. A combination of drought during growth and excess rain during harvest slashed yields by 10% and quality by up to 25% in some areas. Consequently, sugar production totalled 19.27 million tons (down l 7.76%) and ethanol output dropped nearly 12%, totaling 13.88 billion liters. Corn-based ethanol saw a notable fortnightly increase of 13.8%.
