CENTER-SOUTH ETHANOL STOCKS BEGIN 2025 WITH 8.8 BILLION LITERS

Ethanol stocks in Brazil’s Center-South region dropped to 8.8 billion liters by January 1, 2025, reflecting a 9.5% annual decrease and a 10.8% decline since mid-December 2024. In São Paulo, the largest producer, stocks fell 11% year-on-year to 4.66 billion liters. Hydrated ethanol stocks reached 5.21 billion liters (-11.9% fortnightly, -10.3% annually), with production at 302 million liters (-15.2% annually). Anhydrous ethanol stocks hit 3.59 billion liters (-9.2% fortnightly, -8.3% annually), while its production rose 6.7% to 184 million liters. December ethanol sales increased by 2.55% year-on-year to 2.95 billion liters, supported by higher corn ethanol production, lower exports, and carryover stocks. Unica forecasts adequate supply during the sugarcane off-season.
