CARGO VOLUME UP 18% YTD FOR PECÉM PORT

The Port of Pecém in Fortaleza saw a significant rise in operations in the first seven months of 2024, handling 10.6 million tonnes of cargo, a 17.9% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Container operations grew by 16.6%, reaching 280,425 TEUs. The 2024/2025 fruit export season began with 2,500 tonnes of melons, watermelons, mangoes, and grapes being shipped, mostly to Europe. Cabotage operations also rose by 12%, reaching 6.88 million tonnes. Key commodities included minerals, cereals, mineral fuels, and plastics.
