CAPUABA PORT RAILWAY OVERHAUL PROMISES 5 MILLION-TONNE CARGO SURGE

The revitalization of the railway system at the Port of Capuaba, Vila Velha, is expected to boost cargo throughput by up to 5 million tonnes. The upgraded rail will be operational by October, connecting Brazil’s Midwest region with the states of Goiás, Minas Gerais, and Espírito Santo. This infrastructure project, part of R$180 million in port improvements, is aimed at enhancing the port’s competitiveness. Minister Silvio Costa Filho noted a 30% growth in Espírito Santo’s port activities in the first half of 2024. Future steps include expanding container operations and dredging projects for the ports of Vitória and Barra do Riacho.
