The wheat harvest supported by Capal Cooperativa Agroindustrial in São Paulo is nearly complete, with producers expecting an average yield of 3.8 tons per hectare, totaling around 100 tons over 26.2 hectares — higher than in previous years. Favorable weather, evenly distributed rainfall, and minimal frost damage contributed to good results, though a 54-day dry spell reduced yields by about 300 kg/ha. Despite this, the crop’s quality is excellent, meeting milling industry standards with strong pH and falling number indicators. Only 12% of the area was irrigated, and diseases like powdery mildew and aphids were well controlled. Wheat remains part of the region’s winter crop rotation, mainly in Taquarivaí, Itararé, Taquarituba, and Avaré, with producers adjusting planting areas according to market trends for corn and sorghum.
