The International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) and the Comité Maritime International (CMI) have relaunched a campaign urging governments to ratify key maritime treaties. These include conventions on wreck removal, hazardous substances, ship recycling, and judicial sales of ships. The initiative aims to ensure uniform global regulations, preventing fragmented rules and enhancing safety and environmental protection. ICS and CMI stress that a globally regulated industry needs consistent legal frameworks. The campaign comes amid geopolitical shifts, with concerns over unilateral regulations, especially as the US under Donald Trump challenges international agreements.
