Brazil’s Maranhão Grain Terminal (Tegram) set a record in August with 1.75 million tonnes of soybean and corn exports, surpassing last year’s figure by 150,000 tonnes. From January to August, shipments totaled about 10 million tonnes, mostly soybeans. With Brazil’s strong soybean harvest and the arrival of the second corn crop, Tegram projects over 15 million tonnes of grain exports in 2025, matching 2023’s record. Located in São Luís, the terminal plays a key role in the Northern Arc, easing export logistics from Maranhão, Piauí, Tocantins, northeastern Mato Grosso, and Bahia. Operated by a consortium including Bunge, CLI, ALZ Grãos, and TCN, Tegram has two berths and has begun a third expansion phase to add another berth and increase capacity by 8.5 million tonnes.
