BRAZIL’S TEGRAM TERMINAL AT ITAQUI PORT MOVES 84 MILLION TONNES IN FIRST DECADE, EYES MAJOR EXPANSION

Tegram, the Maranhão Grain Terminal at the Port of Itaqui, celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2025, having moved 84.3 million tons of soy, corn, and soybean meal since 2015. Formed by a partnership of Viterra, TCN, ALZ, and CLI, the terminal became a key logistics hub for the MATOPI region (Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí), enabling a direct, cost-effective export route through the Northern Arc. Its operations boosted grain exports from 3.3 to 15.5 million tons annually, supporting regional development and reducing logistics costs. A third expansion phase in 2025 aims to increase capacity to 24 million tons. Tegram’s success, driven by collaboration between the private sector and the port authority, has made Itaqui a competitive player in global agribusiness.
