BRAZIL’S SUGAR-ENERGY SECTOR POWERS UP THROUGH INNOVATION

Brazil continues to be the world’s leading sugar producer and exporter, as well as the second-largest global ethanol producer. For the 2025-2026 harvest, Conab projects sugar production at 666.4 million tons, a slight decrease of 1.6% from the previous cycle, largely due to water shortages, fires, and other climate-related factors. In response, the sector has relied on operational efficiency and technological innovation, including advanced milling, diversification into corn ethanol, and sustainable practices, to maintain competitiveness amid climatic and market volatility.
