BRAZIL’S SOYBEAN PLANTING PROJECTED TO INCREASE BY 1.2% IN 2025-26

According to consultancy Safras & Mercado, Brazil’s soybean planted area for the 2025-26 season is projected to increase by 1.2% year-on-year, reaching 48.2 million hectares. With an average yield estimate of 3,749 kg/ha, output could hit a historic high of 179.875 million tons, a 4.6% increase over the 2024-25 season. While the Midwest and Northeast regions are likely to drive most of the area expansion, elevated production costs and rising interest rates may curb technology investments, potentially restricting yield growth. The overall expansion in the planted area is expected to remain modest.
