BRAZIL’S RICE EXPORTS REACH 123 THOUSAND TONS IN OCTOBER

According to Abiarroz, Brazil made USD 47.1 million in October from importing 122.9 thousand tons of rice. Revenue decreased 34.5% from the previous year, as export volume decreased 39.7% from October 2023. Exports of processed rice were 81.9 thousand tons, with a drop of 53.2% in volume and 48.7% in revenue. The main destinations were Peru, the Netherlands, Gambia, and Senegal. According to Abiarroz’s Gustavo Trevisan, the floods in Rio Grande do Sul in April and May reduced Brazilian rice’s competitiveness and raised its price because of a shortage of raw materials. India’s comeback on the global scene also puts pressure on rice prices, aggravating the situation for Brazilian rice exports.
