The Brazilian port sector is set to invest BRL 512.4 million in environmental initiatives from 2023 to 2024, according to a “Sustainability Diagnosis” by the Ministry of Ports and Airports (MPor) and the Association of Port Terminals (ATP). Based on a survey of 78 participants, Authorized Terminals (TUPs) were the leading contributors at BRL 290.7 million, followed by port administrations and leases. The study also revealed that 96.2% of participants comply with environmental regulations, and over 73% have active sustainability strategies and decarbonization programs. Social investments amounted to BRL 225.5 million, prioritizing anti-harassment measures and community support.
