BRAZIL’S NORTHERN PORTS OUTPERFORM WITH 7% SURGE IN MARCH CARGO HANDLING

Soybean exports powered a 7% YoY increase in cargo handling at Brazil’s public terminals in March. General cargo increased by 200%, with ports in the North region leading growth. The ports of Amapá and Pará were the standouts, rising by 47.33% and 2.76%, respectively, with the terminals of Santana, Santarém, and Vila do Conde primarily to blame. Brazil’s government projects Northern/Northeastern ports will handle 50% of Brazil’s grain exports by 2030. The VCD29 terminal at Vila do Conde (PA) is part of a new round of port auctions announced by the Ministry of Ports and Airports for 2025, totaling BRL 1.03 billion in investments.
