In 2025, ports in the Northern Arc region handled 163.3 million tons, marking a 10.33% increase over 2024 and outpacing the national average, according to the National Waterway Transport Agency. Growth was driven largely by soybeans (48.6 million tons) and corn (34.4 million tons), which together accounted for over half of the region’s cargo. Bauxite, containers, and oil also contributed significantly. Among the terminals, the Port of Santarém and the Port of Vila do Conde had significant growth. This reinforces the Northern Arc’s role as a strategic corridor for agricultural exports, helping to lower logistics costs and increasing the region’s share in Brazil’s port matrix.
