BRAZIL’S NEXT MAJOR GRAIN EXPORT TERMINAL SET FOR 2027 START PENDING PERMITS

The new Port of Itapoá, in northern Santa Catarina, is in the licensing and project phase and will receive a R$3 billion investment from the cooperative Coamo. Planned to handle 11 million tonnes of grains and other products annually, the terminal will include structures for LPG, dry bulk, fuels, and fertilizers. According to the state government, the project must go through four stages—licensing, project development, construction, and operation. Coamo is currently securing environmental and legal approvals, with a public hearing as the next step. Licensing and technical project preparation are expected to finish by 2026, construction should begin in 2027, and operations may start in 2030 if the schedule is maintained.
