BRAZIL’S FIRST PORT ACCESS CHANNEL CONCESSION APPROVED; PUBLIC HEARING INCOMING

On Wednesday (20), Brazil’s National Agency for Waterway Transportation (ANTAQ) approved a public consultation for gathering contributions, subsidies, and suggestions concerning the concession of the access channel to the Port of Paranaguá. This marks Brazil’s first proposed concession of a port access channel. The proposal outlines a 25-year term, starting in 2024, with the possibility of extensions up to 70 years. The estimated Capex is R$1.07 billion, Opex is R$2.35 billion, and the gross revenue is projected at R$8.85 billion. Details about the approval process and the contribution period will be defined shortly and published in the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU).
