BRAZIL’S CORN OUTPUT SET TO REACH 128 MILLION TONS BY 2024-25

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) expects Brazil’s corn production will rebound during the 2024–2025 harvest, potentially reaching 128 million tons. Better weather and reduced production costs are the primary reasons for the one-million-ton increase. With recovery expected following the end of El Niño, the planted area is estimated to reach 22.3 million hectares, increasing 1.4% from the 2023–2024 cycle, when the cultivated extension was 22 million hectares. In 2024–2025, Brazilian corn exports could total 48 million tons. However, issues like flooding in producing regions and the corn leafhopper will continue to push Brazilian productivity, particularly in Rio Grande do Sul, Minas Gerais, and Goiás.
