BRAZIL’S BIOFUEL FUNDING BREAKS RECORD AT BRL 6.4 BILLION

BNDES approved a record BRL 6.4 billion in credit for biofuel production, surpassing its previous high of BRL 4.8 billion set in 2010. This is part of the bank’s renewed commitment to the sector since 2023, which has funded diversified projects including corn and wheat ethanol and biomethane. Over the last three years, BNDES approvals have reached BRL 13.3 billion, a 204% increase compared to the 2019-2022 period. This financing enhances Brazil’s industrial base, decreases emissions, and positions Brazil as a leader in the worldwide transition to sustainable energy, said BNDES President Aloizio Mercadante.
