BRAZIL’S BIGGEST OIL PLATFORM LAUNCHES IN PRE-SALT REGION

The largest offshore platform in Brazil, FPSO Almirante Tamandaré, began operations on Saturday (15) in the Búzios Field, 180 km off Rio de Janeiro’s coast in the Santos Basin. Aiming to reach 1 million barrels per day by the second half of 2025, the facility processes 225 thousand barrels of oil and 12 million m³ of gas per day. The Búzios Field, a prospective pre-salt field, might become Petrobras’ largest, producing over 1.5 million barrels/day. Decarbonization and heat utilization technologies on the SBM Offshore platform reduce emissions and optimize energy. Petrobras found additional reserves in the area. Petrobras (88.9%), CNOOC (7.34%), and CNPC (3.67%) created the responsible consortium with ANP authorizations on Friday (14).
