BRAZIL’S BABITONGA BAY TO RECEIVE UP TO BRL 15 BILLION IN INVESTMENTS BY 2036

The Babitonga Bay Port Complex in Santa Catarina will undergo a significant expansion and deepening project, costing around R$300 million. The project, enabled by a protocol signed by Governor Jorginho Mello, focuses on the Ports of São Francisco do Sul and Itapoá. The dredging will increase the channel depth from 14 to 16 meters, allowing vessels up to 366 meters in length. This will boost the state’s competitiveness, enhance navigation safety, and accommodate larger ships. The initiative will also generate jobs, increase income, and address coastal erosion. Babitonga Bay, accounting for over 60% of the state’s port activity, will see improved infrastructure, supporting regional economic growth.
