BRAZILIAN SUGAR EXPORTS SURPASSED 4 MILLION TONS IN NOVEMBER, THE HIGHEST LEVEL IN 2022

Sugar exports from Brazil reached 4.07 million tons in November, an increase of 53% when compared to the same period last year and the highest monthly level of 2022, according to the government. Shipment increases occur because Brazil’s mills started to allocate greater volumes of sugarcane for sugar production in the 2022/23 season, instead of ethanol production, in addition to firm international demand. The schedule of sugar shipments is “booming”, said the president of the Datagro consultancy, Plínio Nastari, and the country has taken advantage of a delay caused by the rains in the harvest of India, the second global exporter behind Brazil.
