BRAZILIAN SUGAR EXPORTS INCREASED MORE THAN 58% IN JANUARY

According to the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex), Brazilian sugar exports witnessed an impressive annual increase of 58.1% in January, achieving the best sales outcome for the month in the entire time series. In January 2024, Brazil exported sugar to 106 countries, 15 more than in the same period in 2023. Among these exports, 55.2% headed to the Asian market, which is a significant year-on-year increase of almost 177%. India was the primary destination, receiving 9.6% of Brazilian sugar in January 2024. As for February, Indonesia is expected to become the primary destination for Brazilian sugar exports.
