The Brazilian Navy has certified the dredging of the Port of Suape’s external channel, confirming a depth of 20 meters and placing it among Brazil’s ports with the greatest draught capacity. The approval allows Suape to receive large international vessels, boosting import and export operations and improving fuel logistics. According to CEO Armando Monteiro Bisneto, the port now offers better navigability, shorter waiting times, and safer full-capacity docking. Previously, ships over 12.8 meters in draught depended on tides, but those over 15 meters can now dock freely. The R$140 million project, completed in April 2024, removed 1.7 million cubic meters of sediment. Meanwhile, an additional R$217 million dredging of the internal channel — financed partly by the federal PAC3 program — will deepen it to 16.2 meters and extract 3.8 million cubic meters of sediment.
