BRAZILIAN AGRIBUSINESS EXPORTS EXCEED USD 15 BILLION IN MAY 2024

In May 2024, Brazilian agribusiness exports totaled $15.05 billion, comprising 49.6% of the country’s exports, but fell 10.2% from May 2023 due to lower export prices and reduced global volume. Key products mitigating the decline included green coffee, cotton, cellulose, and raw cane sugar. The sugar and alcohol sector saw exports rise by 15.3% to $1.43 billion, driven by record sugar production and exports. Meat exports reached $2.13 billion, up 2%, while forest products rose by 25.5% to $1.55 billion, with cellulose prices increasing significantly. Year-to-date agribusiness exports reached $67.17 billion, slightly down by 0.2%. Over the past year, exports grew by 2.4% to $166.38 billion. Agribusiness imports slightly decreased to $17.49 billion.
