BRAZIL WRAPS UP FIRST WEEK OF JUNE WITH USD 1.41 BILLION SURPLUS

In the first week of June, Brazil recorded a trade surplus of $1.41 billion, with exports at $7.37 billion and imports at $5.96 billion, according to the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex). The daily average of exports rose by 4.6% to $1.473 billion compared to the same period last year, driven by significant increases in the extractive industry (27.9%) and agriculture (8.3%). However, manufacturing industry exports declined by 5.6%. Imports surged by 28.3% to $1.192 billion per day, with the manufacturing industry leading the rise at 29.2%, and agricultural imports soaring by 91.4%. Imports in the extractive industry also grew by 3.2%.
