BRAZIL WILL USE RECORD CORN PRODUCTION TO CONSUME MORE ETHANOL, SAYS MINISTER

Brazil plans to increase the ethanol blend in gasoline from 27% (E27) to 30% (E30) due to the record agricultural harvest forecast for 2025, especially in corn and the sugar-energy sector. Minister of Mines and Energy Alexandre Silveira stated that the proposal will be evaluated by the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE). The announcement was made during tests on the E30 mixture’s efficiency and emissions. Silveira assured that ethanol production will not compete with food supply, reinforcing that President Lula’s priority remains food security and avoiding price hikes in supermarkets.
