BRAZIL WHEAT IMPORTS HIT HIGHEST LEVEL IN 13 YEARS

Brazilian wheat imports remain strong despite a slowdown in August 2025, when purchases fell to 493,230 tonnes — 20% below July and 9.5% lower than August 2024. From January to August, however, imports reached 4.68 million tonnes, the highest level since 2007 and 2.7% above last year. Over the past 12 months, volumes totaled 6.77 million tonnes, up 13.5% compared with the previous period. Analysts attribute the growth to more attractive international prices, which have encouraged Brazilian millers to increase purchases, particularly from neighboring suppliers.
